Backstory
This is considered a brief summary KT's prime canon.
Born on Kessel to wealthy and powerful parents, Korine grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth upon a harsh and brutal world that absolutely did not want life to thrive upon it. Her father owns the Talon Mines, a series of coaxium and spice mining operations that make countless millions of credits and supply the Empire. Korine desired to enlist as a young woman when the Imperial military began to recruit - her prestigious background earned her the right to go to the academy at Carida.
Korine quickly asserted herself as one of the top cadets, and earned her way into the advanced Scout Trooper school and qualified as a Storm Commando. It was instilled in her early on that she was a weapon for the Empire. She proved to be an absolutely lethal one. She performed a few shakedown operations until being assigned to a more permanent unit on Kashyyyk where she killed high profile Wookiee resistance leaders, gunned down resistance forces, and destroyed enemy strongholds. She was told her enemy were wild animals and not even sentient - to show no mercy and avoid capture at all costs as she would be devoured. Korine believed it. At least at first…
Soon Korine became wise to the atrocities she was committing. Many of her targets were civilians - with women and children among the dead. She was ordered to beat down insurrectionists and kill anyone who dared resist the Empire. Korine’s decorated and spotless career came careening down when her commanding officer, Captain Sloan, sexually assaulted her. Taking advantage of his authority over her, he blackmailed her - knowing she used spice - and re-offended multiple times before he was killed by a Wookiee slave whom witnessed him. Korine helped the Wookiee escape, and realized she was done fighting.
Korine’s performance plummeted. She was reassigned to a small unit on the remote planet of Endor to perform routine scouting. It was a do-nothing job and a career killer. Korine exited Imperial service shortly after and went back home to Kessel. There, she met up with some old friends who were in the Rebellion who slowly convinced her to join up. Korine ran away to the Rebellion - meeting up at the base on Dantooine.
Korine was integrated into a new unit called ‘SpecForce’ and brought her Imperial special forces training to bear. She helped the fledgling taskforce grow, helped create some of their earliest tactics and procedures, and built standard operating procedures in use by the New Republic still to this day. Korine generally served out of the main Rebel base wherever it happened to be, roaming from Dantooine to Yavin, and then to Hoth, and finally to Haven.
While on Yavin, Korine scouted many of the ruins dotting the planet and encountered a Force spirit lurking within. Korine’s latent Force sensitivity enabled the opportunist ghast to dwell within her - mostly unseen. However, Korine’s sensitivity began to manifest slowly. At the Battle of Hoth - Korine volunteered for a Suicide Squad that would stay behind at Echo Base while the transports escaped and hold off the Imperial troops as they ravaged the base. Korine and her men believed they would die, and fought tooth and nail to slow the Imperials down. One after another, they did - until only Korine and a small number of her troops were surrounded on all sides. Out of ammo, and demoralized by the sight of Darth Vader - Korine surrendered quietly and ordered her men to as well. She was sent to the Dathomir prison and interrogated by an Inquisitor - her Force sensitivity was detected by Darth Vader during her initial questioning. There, Korine’s surviving men were tortured until she eventually broke down and relayed everything she knew of the Rebellion. A few of her men died - including one by suicide. The Inquisitor began to tear Korine’s resolve apart and convince her to return to the Empire - bent on turning her to the dark side. She was nearly about to accept when a riot broke out, and Korine snapped out of the bewitching spell of the Inquisitor and escaped. She was one of three men that made it out. Korine and the survivors flew into Rebel territory in a stolen Imperial TIE Reaper and immediately surrendered to intercepting forces. They were identified, and sent to Haven where Korine met up with the remainder of her unit. She had little time to recover from incarceration before she was sent to Endor. Her unit was tasked with destroying the shield generator tower in conjunction with the assault on the shield generator bunker. However, her unit was quickly surrounded and gunned down with seemingly no survivors. Korine, however, blacked out as the Rage took her for the first time. She awoke to see the shield generator burning, bodies everywhere, and her own body riddled with injuries. She gazed up at the Death Star - watching it with all of her hatred. And then it blew up. Korine laughed triumphantly, and faded. She awoke several days later in a trauma bay. She’d survived the impossible, but her entire squad was seemingly murdered. Korine immediately resigned from the Rebellion and left before even finishing her injury treatment. She wandered the Galaxy for a time, settling down on Dantooine. She lived out in the wilderness, occasionally stepping into civilization to do some mercenary work for funding. She was hired for a high profile heist by a pirate named Leena and her partner Dax as an explosives expert. The heist was successful - and Korine earned a small fortune as her cut. She did some more work with the crew, running jobs against the Empire. Dax and Korine began to fall in love, admiring eachother’s strength and similarities. Everything fell apart, however, after a job on Ord Mantell went sour and the entire crew was compromised. Korine managed to escape capture from the Empire by hiding out on Ord Mantell for a time. She lost contact with the others, assuming them captured or killed. She returned to Dantooine to retire for good - set on credits and done with adventuring. She met a man named Jacobus there who lived in a small village near her home. Korine decided to move in. Korine’s force sensitivity was picked up on by Jacobus, an aspiring Jedi. He began to train her, and give her access to resources. Soon, Korine drew the notice of a kindly Jedi named Fazza whom was hiding out in the town. She grew to very deeply care for Fazza and formally requested to learn the ways of the Force under him. She became the Sentinel, or protector, of the Reliquary - a collection of Jedi artifacts and teachings that Jacobus had acquired. She swore to protect it with her life, and took the oath very seriously. Korine met another Force sensitive woman named Cari there, and the two of them began to develop amorous feelings. She trained with Fazza and honed her Force skills until she needed to run an errand off world for Jacobus. Korine’s ship suffered a hyperspace accident and was flung into an uncharted system and crashed on a fortunately habitable world. She lived there for a few years - until a New Republic surveying team discovered her and repatriated her to Dantooine. She returned to an abandoned town, with her former Master and friends seemingly slain by the Empire. Everything she’d built in Agathon had been taken away by the Empire. She saw her entire life as a waste, and contemplated suicide. She sat at Fazza’s memorial for days, staring at her blaster and mourning the loss of everything she believed in. Just before she was ready to pull the trigger, a man approached. He introduced himself as an old friend of Fazza’s. Bywing, a Jedi. Bywing took in Korine as his padawan after learning of her Force sensitivity. Bywing introduced Korine to another new friend, Qualnar. Together the three aspiring Jedi worked together to help restore the lost Jedi ways. They earned the ire of an inquisitor named Vercingetorix, and his incredibly talented Hapan agent named Le'ena. After a series of misadventures and close calls, a final confrontation between Vercingetorix and Bywing ended in both of their deaths, leaving Korine and Qualnar to pick up the pieces and move on - and Le'ena to plot her revenge.
